HENRY GRACE SAY SOMETHING MEAN

‘Say Something Mean’ is the new tune from American artist Henry Grace. You can feel the influence of his homeland immediately, with a reverb-soaked, blues-influenced guitar introducing his sound. It soon gives way to a more tender, acoustic guitar-backed verse which shows off Grace’s beautiful voice and leans toward an early Bon Iver sound. “The whole thing was really built around the chorus 'say something mean like it don't mean a thing'," explains Henry. "And it worked sitting at my kitchen table with just my voice and guitar, but it was not until I took it to the band and Brian started playing the opening riff that the song grew wings. I remember listening back to our set from Jazz Cafe and thinking it could be a single.” Henry Grace plays the acoustic stage at this year's Glastonbury. -Dan Peeke
